Carter, William B

Last Friday what is feared to be a fatal accident happened to one of the oldest and most respected farmers of Riverton, Wm. B. Carter. He was loading hay in the field, when his team, one of which was a young colt, started to run. Mrs. Carter, who was on the rear of the load, was nearly thrown off, but managed to get to the front and hold of the lines. It is supposed he caught but one of them, as the team began running in a circle. Finally the reach broke, and the wagon was upset, throwing Mr. Carter to the ground with stunning force. He struck on his head and shoulders, and was picked up insensible. Medical aid was at once summoned, but so far little hope is held out of recovery.

Mr. Carter is 63 years old, which renders the chances after such a terrible shock all the more desperate.
