McCauley, Concordia

McCauley - At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Blunt, near Charles City, Iowa, December 30, 1896, Mrs. Concordia McCauley, aged 79 years, 8 months and 29 days.

Deceased was born in Schuylkill, County, Pennsylvania, April 2, 1817. Her maiden name was Concordia Snyder, and in 1834 she was married to Dennis McCauley. In 1859 they came to Iowa and settled in Niles township, this county.

In 1878 her husband died, and since a few years after his death, she has lived with her daughters, Mrs. H. Blunt and Mrs. D. Daly.

She was the mother of four children, Mrs. H. Blunt, Mrs. D. Daly, Mrs. John Gillott and Mrs. Thos. Byrnes, the two former of whom survive her. In 1849 she became a convert to the Catholic faith and continued faithful therein until her death. The funeral services were conducted from the Catholic Church on January 1st, Very Rev. Dean McGrath officiating, and the remains were followed to the grave by many friends and laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
