Elgin Echo, Thursday, 09 October 1902.

Trying to rekindle a fire with kerosene, resulting in an explosion and setting her clothes on fire, little 12-year-old Sophia McGaben, five miles west of Nashua, then jumped through a closed window, threw herself into a water tank and later returned and pluckily saved the building. The little girl died from the result of her injuries.
