Dunn, Frank

On Last Saturday, at about noon, Frank Dunn was struck by lightning and instantly killed, on the farm of his uncle, five miles north of Nora Springs.

He was a son of Ed Dunn who resides six miles south of Charles City, and was eighteen years old last Thanksgiving day. He was attending the Nora Springs Seminary, and was boarding with his uncle, and on Saturdays assisted in the farm work.

At the time he was struck he was driving a team in from the field in which he had been working. He was accompanied by his cousin, Katie Dunn, a young girl,, and who was also struck but not killed, though she was very seriously injured. She is still lying in critical condition. Though Frank was killed instantly, the horses he was driving were uninjured.

The remains of the unfortunate young man were brought to this city Saturday evening. The funeral was held Monday, at the Catholic Church conducted by Rev. Father Kilby, of Greene, owing to the illness of Very Rev. Dean McGrath. Interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery.
