Powell, Sidney Anne (Taylor)

MRS. POWELL IS CALLED HOME

Death Comes on a Sunny Sabbath Afternoon Stealing Away Her Spirit - An Excellent Woman.

Yesterday afternoon at three o'clock Mrs. L. E. Powell closed her eyes for the last time, on all things earthly. Her death was caused by a complication of diseases and she has been an invalid for four long years. Mrs. Powell, nee, Sidney Anne Taylor, was born June 22, 1849, in West Moreland, Penn., and was married to L. E. Powell, Dec. 12, 1867, at Waverly, Iowa.

They moved to this city twenty eight years ago, and have both been devoted and faithful members of the Methodist Church from the year they came here. Four children were born to them, three of whom are living and were present at her death bed. They are Mrs. Fred McCloud, Mrs. Homer Johnson and Fred Powell. Her sister Mrs. Coffin of Horton was also present. Mr. and Mrs. Powell moved to McIntire about six years ago where they resided until a year ago this spring, when they returned to this city.

The deceased was always a kind and loving mother and respected and beloved.

The funeral services will take place at the M. E. Church at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. P. M. Dwello of Monona, her former pastor at McIntire, is expected tomorrow to conduct the funeral services.
