CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Lorraine E. Schwarck, 75, of Charles City, died Saturday, October 8, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, East Campus, Mason City, after a brief illness.
Survivors include her husband, Milo "Mike" of Charles City; three daughters, Jeanine Lockie of rural Elma, Christine Pitts of Grove City, Ohio, and Korine Winders of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; a brother, Howard Schuler of Plymouth, Minnesota; and a sister, Marguerite Schuler of Union.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Colwell United Church of Christ, Colwell, with burial in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City; friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, Charles City, with family present from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today; visitation also for an hour before services at the church.
Mrs. Schwarck taught for two years in country schools and then two years in Whitten; she was deputy superintendent of county schools for Hardin County for three years; she later farmed for 41 years in Grundy County and rural Elma, retiring in 1987; she worked as a voting clerk at polling places for many elections.
