A SUDDEN DEMISE

Miss Florence Riley Died This Morning At The Emergency Hospital From Operation

Miss Florence Riley, a well known teacher in Floyd County, died suddenly this morning at the Emergency hospital. Miss Riley has been ailing for the past year and has never been very robust, but nevertheless could hardly be called an invalid. Her indisposition finally developed as a case of chronic appendicitis; during the past two months she suffered from two to three acute attacks which incapacitated her each time for a few days.

Last week the condition became more pronounced and threatening. An operation was decided upon and successfully performed. The wound did well, she having no pain or fever, nor unfavorable reaction of any kind until this morning, when she suddenly complained of inability to breathe. Her physician was at once telephoned for, but before he could reach her bedside she had passed quietly away.

The final change came on without any warning about 3:40 this morning and death ensued in a few minutes. Her condition had been entirely favorable, and her sudden and untimely demise was as wholly unexpected as it was sudden. She leaves a sweet memory to comfort friends and family.

Earnest, tender, brave, self sacrificing, she filled a place among our young people worthy of all emulation. She will be buried from the home, opposite site of old Illinois Central depot. Notice of funeral will be given later.
