Clifford ‘Chip’ Lockey

Clifford “Chip” Lockey, 89, of Ionia, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Clifford “Chip” Lockey will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethany Alliance Church in Charles City. Pastor Kent Sovine will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. at the Hauser Funeral Home Thursday and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Clifford “Chip” Earl Lockey was born January 28, 1924, in Iowa Falls, the son of Harry and Martha (Paisley) Lockey. He received his education in Nashua graduating from Nashua High School. Chip then enlisted in the Navy and served his country for nearly three years during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Saginaw Bay. When Chip was honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned home and married Faith Duncan at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on June 1, 1947.

Chip was a foreman in the foundry at White Farm for 37 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of Bethany Alliance Church where he was baptized the same day as his son Gordon. Chip enjoyed pitching horseshoes, bowling, fishing, gardening and hunting at Gordy’s. He really loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife of 66 years, Faith of Ionia; daughter, Diane (Junior) Smith of Kinross; three sons: David Lockey of Phoenix Arizona, Gordon (Cindy) Lockey of Nashua and Mark (Cecile) Lockey of Gilbert, Arizona; three grandchildren: Joshua Lockey, Cliff Lockey and Marcelle Lockey; sister, Arvana Boyd of Charles City; two brothers: Dale Lockey of Swan and Donald Lockey of San Jose, Calif.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lowell; and four sisters: Bernadine Michael, Martha Simerson, Eleanor Klinkel and Evelyn Roethler.
