Citizens of Greene and community regretted to learn on Monday that Ben Pringle of Marble Rock was ill and had been taken to the Mason City hospital, but when the news came of his passing away on Tuesday morning, it was a distinct shock. He suffered on Sunday from a severe pain in his head and Monday morning when the pain become more acute the family took him to the hospital for treatment. The cause of his death was secondary spinal meningitis following mastoid trouble.
Ben L. Pringle was born in Pleasant Grove Township, Floyd county, Iowa, December 2, 1888, and passed away at Mercy hospital, Mason City, on Tuesday, December 29, 1936, after a three days illness, at the age of 48 years and 27 days. He lived on the farm where he was born until he moved to Marble Rock in October, 1931, where he went into the stock buying business. The past year and a half he has been employed by the Decker company at Mason City.
He married June 28, 1911, to Lola B. Shook at Mason City. He is survived by his widow and two sons, Ray K. and Lyle; one granddaughter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Pringle and one sister, Mrs. Walter Behnke, and many other relatives and friends, who deeply regret his passing. He was a member of the Methodist church at Marble Rock.
Funeral services will be held at the home in Marble Rock, Friday afternoon at 1:45 and at the Methodist Church in Greene at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. Artman, pastor of the Methodist church in Marble Rock will assist with the services and Rev. J.E. DeLong will preach. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
