Arnold Schmidt, 56, a resident of 207 Shelby St., Charles City, died Sunday, September 29, 1991, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Hauser Funeral Home. The Rev. Delbert Dawes, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Friends may call after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, all day Wednesday and until service time Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home.

Arnold Henry Schmidt was born Jan. 10, 1935, in Charles City, the son of Harold and Lulla Vandeventer Schmidt. He graduated from the Charles City High School. On Sept. 17, 1955, he married Joanne Ries. He was employed at Solvay Animal Health Inc. He was a member of the West St. Charles United Methodist Church, the Nashua Fish and Game Club, River City R.C. Club, Lime Creek Muzzle Loaders Association and had been a Cub Scout leader.

Living family members include his wife, Joanne of Charles City; seven sons, Russel of Manilla, Leon of Clarksville and Rick, Bryan, Doyle, Robin and Rodney, all of Charles City; his mother, Lulla Schmidt of Charles City; a brother, Kenneth Schmidt of Charles City; 13 grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
