Death: June 15, 2013

Chester "Chet" Huffman, 75, of Charles City, was called home Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Chet Huffman will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday where there will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Chester Allen Huffman was born February 18, 1938, at Charles City, the son of Chester H. and Alice (Jordan) Huffman. He received his education from Charles City High School. On September 17, 1988, he was united in marriage to Marlene Vick Kuhn. Chet worked at Guthart grocery and for 31 years at the Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and had served for eight years on the board of the Labor Center.

Among his many interests were fishing, hunting, gaming, gardening, cooking, canning and playing a rousing game of Cribbage. He also enjoyed going to garage sales and antiquing which led to a spring and fall antique garage sale. Chet looked forward to the time he could spend with his family and share life's experiences with them. Sunday was always a special time for morning brunch with the kids.

Living family members include his wife, Marlene Huffman of Charles City; four children, M. Renee (James) Waechter, David (Laura) Huffman, Daniel Huffman and special friend Ruth Ungs and Sue (Shawn) Richard all of Charles City; four step children, Timothy (Robin) Kuhn of Riceville, Mark (Liz) Kuhn of Crystal Lake, Margo Kuhn of Charles City and David Kuhn of Nashua; 28 grandchildren;
21 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Dixie) Huffman of Mesa, Arizona; sister, Marcella (Andrew) Nixt of Greene; uncle, Ron (Delores) Huffman of Ventura; and special cousin, Arla Wright of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dixie Ferguson Waterbury and Barb Oldham; and a special cousin, Donald Wright, Sr.
