STEFFLER RITES HELD AT RUDD

Victim of Farm Accident Is Survived by Widow and 2 Daughters

RUDD, Nov 19--Funeral services for John Steffler, who was instantly killed when he fell from a windmill he was repairing on the Arthur Bornstein farm, were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Friday afternoon; the Rev. George W. Turner and the Masonic Chaplain officiating.

Mr. Steffler was born in Germany, Oct. 22, 1858, his parents with their family emigrated to America, and while on the ocean, the father and mother and youngest child died and were buried in the ocean.

Met By Uncle
An uncle met the children at New York and took them to his home at Waterford, Wis, where John grew to manhood.

Mr. Steffler was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was made a Master Mason on March 13, 1901, holding his membership in Rock Lodge No. 294 at Nora Springs. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, having joined the fraternity in 1896.

Survived By Widow
He was preceded in death by one sister Pauley Rica of St. Louis, Mo., and three brothers, the Rev. Fred Steffler and Will Steffler of Charles City and Henry of Rantoul, Ill.

Besides his widow, two daughters, Mrs. W. Cheney of Rudd and Mrs. E. Wendt of Mason City, a brother Ernest and one sister Carol both of Chicago, Ill., other distant relatives and many friends survive him.

Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery northwest of Rudd.
