William Edson Baker – Ca. 1871 – May 25, 1964

WILLIAM EDSON BAKER

Charles City – Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home here for William Edson Baker, 92, a long-time resident of the Floyd and Orchard area.

He died Monday at the Chautauqua Guest Home where he had been a patient more than a year. The Rev. F. G. Samek, pastor of Grace Methodist Church of Floyd, will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.

Survivors include two sons; Dorland, Osage; and Dewey, Floyd; a daughter; Mrs. Marie Balsley, Orchard; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, several sisters and a brother.

William Edson Baker, was the son of Samuel Baker and Cathrine (Miller) Baker. (parents names from 1925 Iowa Census). He married Harriet “Hattie” Cole, the daughter of Martin George Cole and Angeline (Rice) Cole.
