Osage, Iowa — Jaceil Gisleson, 82, of Osage, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Bryan Lagerstam and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with an Alpha Delta Kappa Educators’ Sorority memorial service at 7 p.m.

Jaceil Arvilla (Nims) Gisleson, 82, passed away May 15, 2013, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

A funeral service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with an Alpha Delta Kappa Educator's Sorority memorial service at 7 p.m.

Jaceil was born south of Nora Springs in 1930. She graduated from Floyd High School, earned a Teaching Certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI), and taught at Pleasant Valley School, a rural one-room school north of Osage, and Orchard Consolidated School. She worked for Mitchell County Farm Bureau before returning to UNI, graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught at Osage Schools for 22 years.

Jaceil began her third career upon retirement, serving as an active volunteer with countless groups and serving as President of Iowa ADK. She researched and edited a book on one-room schoolhouses and assisted with local historical projects. She was also a member of Rotary.

She is survived by her husband, Everett; three sons, Mark, Bill (Laurie) and Jon (Ardi) Gisleson; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Max, Alex, Ann, Sarah, Mark and Anna; a sister, Nina Petit; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Mayme (Gast) Nims; sisters, Thelma Luthanen and Donna Schmall; and brother, Thomas Nims.

Beloved wife and mother, Jaceil excelled as a teacher and homemaker and was an avid rug hooker and gardener.
