William Henry “Bill” Ewald – January 27, 1890 – December 24, 1963

William Henry (Bill) Ewald (73) died suddenly Tuesday Dec 24, 1963 at his home, of a heart attack. He was the eldest of six children of John and Rebecca Roschen Ewald, born 27 Jan 1890, on a farm four miles north of Marble Rock.

His entire life was spent in the Marble Rock-Rockford community. He received his education in rural schools and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at an early age.

On 10 Dec 1913, he was married to Hannah Bunting of Albee, South Dakota. To this union was born one daughter-Edna. Most of his active life was engaged in farming. In the year of 1929, he suffered the loss of a limb in a wood sawing accident, but in spite of his handicap continued most of his normal activities.

He lived for forty-four years on two farms in Ulster Township; both of which were less than two miles from his birth place.

In 1958 he and Hannah moved to their present home in Rockford, Iowa. His health had been failing for several years, but he and his wife were privileged to celebrate their Golden anniversary on 8 Dec 1963.

He had been a faithful member of the Zion
Lutheran Church most of his life and had served it's church council many times. He also served as school director and township trustee for many years.

"He was loving and kind in all his ways.
Upright and just to the end of his days.
Sincere and true, in his heart and mind.
Beautiful memories, he leaves behind"
