Louise Lovetta (Edel) Hofler – April 25, 1920 – December 28, 2006

NORA SPRINGS — Louise Hofler, 86, of Nora Springs, died Thursday (Dec. 28, 2006) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave. in Mason City, with Father Jon M. Seda officiating.

Louise Lovetta Edel was born April 25, 1920, to Anna and Charles Edel in Haverhill, Iowa. At the age of 3, she and her family moved to a farm in the Mason City area. Louise graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1937 and Hamilton Business College the same year.

She was employed as assistant secretary-treasurer at Production Credit Association in Mason City.

In 1942, Louise married John R. Hofler at the San Miguel Mission in Paso Robles County, Calif., where he was stationed at Camp Roberts during World War II.

After the war, they lived in Nora Springs, where John was a partner in the Hofler Seed Co.

Louise was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City and was active in the Nora Springs Catholic Community Center. She participated in many youth groups in Nora Springs and ran the Youth Center there for several years. She enjoyed participating in bridge clubs and marathons.

Louise is survived by her husband, John, and three sons, Jerry, Robert and Thomas; a brother, Bud Edel; and a sister, Joanne Stover.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clair Edel; and six sisters, Shirley Peck, Esther Gump, Irene Pedelty, Alice Whalen, Barbara Carmen and Karen McGrath.
