David L. Martin, 63, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died of neuroendocrine cancer, at his home on Thursday, November 30, 2006.

David was born February 6, 1943 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of James & Neva (Reis) Martin. He graduated from Charles City High School, attended Iowa State University for two years and then the University of Iowa for two years, where he received his Chemical Engineering Degree. He married Gwen Lewis in May of 1963 and they were later divorced.

David married Jan Kittelson on June 21, 1993 in Reno, Nevada. He was employed by Iowa Electric (Alliant Energy) in Cedar Rapids for 13 years and then with Cedar Falls Utilities from 1989 until 2006. David was the Cedar Falls Utilities Representative for IAMU (Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities) and APPA (American Public Power Association).

Survivors include his wife, Jan Kittelson of Cedar Falls; three sons, Phillip Martin of Cedar Rapids, Michael Kittelson of Cedar Falls and Kris (Jan) Kittelson of Williamsburg, Iowa; five daughters, Jennifer Hudson, Leigh (Rick) Dahlem, and Elizabeth Hepker, all of Cedar Rapids, Karla MacKenzie and Kerri (Doug) Karsjens, both of Cedar Falls; thirteen grandchildren, David & Amanda Hudson, Austin Kittelson, Montana & Marisa MacKenzie, Kody & Klayton Kittelson, Ciara, Korbin & Mia Kittelson, Rachael & Morgan Dahlem, and Kit Karsjens; his parents, James & Neva Martin of Charles City; five brothers, Bob (Jan) Martin of Oregon, Wisconsin, Rick (Sandy) Martin of Earlham, Iowa, Bill (Linda) Martin of San Angelo, Texas, Steve (Jeri) Martin of Altoona, Iowa, Tom (Kolleen) Martin of Charles City, Iowa, and one sister, Kathy (Dave) Schultz of Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am Monday, December 4, 2006, at Heartland Vineyard Church, 1405 Greenhill Road, Cedar Falls. A gathering will be one hour before service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
