Johann “John” Gottlieb Lillick – October 25, 1866 – May 27, 1951

RETIRED FARMER DIES NEAR CHARLES CITY; HOLD RITES WEDNESDAY

Charles City – Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Grossmann’s Funeral Home for John Lillick, 84, retired farmer, who died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Ross, 6 miles east of Charles City. The Rev. Walter M. Fritschel, pastor of the St. John Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Lillick was born in Germany, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He came to Indiana at the age of 14. He was married to Caroline “Lena” Niemann, April 29, 1892. They farmed in Chickasaw County for 47 years and moved to Charles City, October 17, 1938.

Mr. and Mrs. Lillick celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1942. Mrs. Lillick died July 17, 1948, and about two weeks later Mr. Lillick moved to the farm home of his daughter, Mrs. Ross.

He is survived by his two daughters and one son; Mrs. Milan George, Nashua; Mrs. George Ross; Albert, Ionia; one brother Albert Lillick, Houston, Texas. One child preceded him in death. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a brother and sister in Germany.
