Katherine (Catherine) Adeline Gildner was born January 16, 1829 at Darm​stadt, Hessen, Germany​. She left Germany between 1847-1852.

She married George Henry Mogk (born January 19, 1829 Darmstadt, Germany, died May 5, 1920 Perth, Ontario, Canada) on ​April 29, 1855 at Linton,​ Allamakee, Iowa. The couple had one son J​ohn Mogk (born November 29, 1855 Linton, Allamakee, Iowa, died December 19, 1930 Nora Springs, Floyd, Iowa). George Mogk and Katherine divorced 1856.

Katherine married Henry Gas​t (born March 4, 1837 Darmstadt, Germany, died September 27, 1911 Nora Springs, Floyd, Iowa) on July 3, 1857 at Lint​on, Allamakee, Iowa. They had five chi​ldren:
Mary (born 1861 Allamakee, Iowa, died 1879 Floyd, Iowa);
Henry (born November 23, 1863 Allamakee, Iowa, died May 15, 1937 Hampton, Franklin, Iowa);
William (born 1866 Allamakee, Iowa, died 1875 Iowa);
George (born September 29, 1868 Allamakee, Iowa, died May 13, 1943 Nora Springs, Floyd, Iowa) and
Mathilda E (born March 17, 1871 Allamakee, Iowa, died December 22, 1854 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa).

Found in the 1870 census living at Linton, Allamakee, IA, (lists John as a Gast): Henry Gast 34, Catharine Gast 38, John Gast 15 (should be Mogk), Henry Gast 7, Mary Gast 9, William Gast 4, George Gast 2.

The family walked with oxen and wagon to move west to the Rock Grove, Floyd County, Iowa and settled on a farm before 1880.

1885: Henry Gast 46, Catharine Gast 51, Henry Gast 22, George Gast 15, Matildy Gast 12.

Katherine and Henry divorced about 1887.
