Charles City, Iowa — Lloyd Flugge, 92, of Charles City, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Lloyd Flugge will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Jane Keel of Messiah Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday an hour prior to the service.

The Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Emil Flugge was born June 28, 1920, at Riceville, the son of Elmer and Elisie (Lubbert) Flugge. He received his education from Howard County country schools. Lloyd proudly served in the United States Army during World War II having received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and Good Conduct Badge along with several other medals. On February 14, 1946, he married Jacqueline Kress and they later divorced. Lloyd married Gertrude Hull Adelmund on September 25, 1949 at Austin, Minn. He drove truck for many years before his retirement. Lloyd was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars having served as Post Commander for several years.

Living family members include a son, Danny (Sharron) Adelmund of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; four brothers, Ralph Flugge of Lime Springs, Donald (Beverly) Flugge of Elma, Alden (Florence) Flugge of Osage and Roy (Sharon) Flugge of Chickasha, Okla.; four sisters, Helen Bartels of Denver, Clara Freebury of Fredericksburg, Rosanna (Vernon) LaBarge of Nashua and Inez Bode of Rochester, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrude on August 6, 2006; two grandsons, Scott and Troy Adelmund; two sons, Darrell Adelmund and Daniel Flugge; four sisters; and two brothers.
