Charles City, Iowa — Chester “Chet” McDonald, 87, of Charles City, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Chet McDonald will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula of the Nashua United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday an hour prior to the service.

The Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Chester LaVerne McDonald was born June 4, 1925, at Quasqueton, the son of Fredrick and Hattie (Reynolds) McDonald. He received his education from the Quasqueton and Charles City schools. Chet proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. On January 28, 1950, he was united in marriage to Laura Brooks at Mason City. Chet worked at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company for over 33 years retiring on August 1, 1976. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Chet always looked forward to a day of good Trout fishing.

Living family members include five children, LeRoy McDonald of Charles City, Roger (Sharon) McDonald of Mason City, Daniel McDonald of Ionia, Richard (Betty) Randals of Brookfield, Wisc., and Peggy (Larry) Oleson of Nashua; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Laura on March 9, 2009; a grandson, Doug McDonald; five sisters; and seven brothers.
