Charles City, Iowa — Duane Boyd, 92, of Charles City, Iowa, died Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Duane Boyd will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Beranek will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and at the church an hour prior to the service.

Duane Charles Boyd was born May 7, 1920, at Marble Rock, Iowa, the son of David and Maude (Wilhelm) Boyd. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1938. Duane proudly served in the United States Army during World War II.

On August 6, 1943, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Fox at Waynesville, Missouri. They farmed in the Charles City area all their lives. Duane was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he held various offices, American Legion, Heritage Club, Cattlemen’s Association for 50 years, first Master Pork Producer in Floyd County, Iowa Master Farmer, and held the office of secretary of Iowa State Pork Producers for five years.

He enjoyed welding, carpentry, grilling, cooking, vegetable gardening, reading and traveling. Duane always looked forward to sharing life’s experiences with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who always looked forward to his cookies and banana bread.

Living family members include his wife, Genevieve Boyd of Charles City; a daughter, Karen (Steve) Rankin of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; a son, Leland (Kristeen) Boyd of Charles City; five grandchildren: Eric (Cheri) Rankin, Adam (Alissa) Rankin, Heidi (Aaron) Duke, Dr. Angela (Greg) Townsend, and Melissa Boyd and partner, Wendy Haroldson; nine great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Harry (Dixie) Fox of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Glenn, James and Kenneth Boyd; and a sister, Doris Marth.

In lieu of flowers memorials will be directed by the family.
