Marble Rock, Iowa — Funeral services for Renee Udyell Parker, 80, of Marble Rock, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marble Rock with Pastor Bob Scheurer officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 18, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St., Greene, and will continue one hour before services on Tuesday at the church.

Renee Udyell Hencken was born on January 14, 1933, in rural Butler County, the daughter of Leonard and Madelin (Bryan) Hencken, and died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

She received her education in public schools, graduating from Sumner High School in 1950. Following graduation she attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Rapids.

On August 25, 1955, Renee was united in marriage to Kenneth "Mike" Parker in Austin, Minnesota. This union was blessed with two children, Pam and Philip.

Renee was a fourth-grade teacher in Greene for a few years. She devoted most of her time, however, to raising her family and chores on the farm. She was a very hard worker, an expert knitter and an excellent cook. She enjoyed reading, loved flowers, the woods, and especially hunting for Morel mushrooms. Renee spent many hours babysitting her grandchildren, all of whom she treasured.

Renee was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marble Rock. She was the church piano player for 50 years, served as a counsel member, and taught Sunday school and Bible school. Renee was also a member of the Marble Rock Library Board.

Living family members include one daughter: Pam (Marc) Clough of Marble Rock; one son: Philip (Darla) Parker of Rockford; grandchildren, Christopher Staudt, Marble Rock, Jordan Staudt, Iowa City, Michaela Staudt, Marble Rock, Wesley Parker, San Antonio, Texas, Erika Parker, Rockford, Kylie Parker, San Antonio, Texas, Kalen Parker, Rockford; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Hencken, Huntington, Indiana; many nieces and nephews.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Avis Hinrickson.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 207 S. Main St., Box 84, Marble Rock IA 50653.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St., Greene.
