Gabriel Fosholdt was born May 11, 1884 at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa to Syver Johnsen Fosholdt and Johanna Haraldsdatter Grov, the sixth of their eight children. Gabriel was baptized on June 1, 1884 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Hans Pedersen, Gulbrand Moe, Grau Aspeholt and Gunhild Aspeholdt. He was confirmed at RCLC on June 18, 1899.

1900:Sever Fosholdt 60, Martha Fosholdt 29, Mary Fosholdt 24, John Fosholdt 23, Harold Fosholdt 22, Thoroald Fosholdt 18, Gabriel Fosholdt 16, Ingeborg Fosholdt 14, Lizzie Fosholdt 12.

Gabriel married Leona Margaret Rushlow on June 17, 1908 at Iowa.
