Kathleen "Kay" Goodno, 98, of Iowa Falls, and formerly of Charles City, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls.

Funeral services for Kay Goodno will be held 11 a.m. Friday, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd, Associate Pastor Jan Tjaden will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd.

Kathleen "Kay" Morella Anderson Goodno was born August 20, 1914 in Highland Township in Winneshiek County, the youngest daughter of Gilbert and Karen (Wermager) Anderson. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1931. In the fall of 1931 she enrolled in the nursing program at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago, Ill. graduating in three years. She then worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago for one year. She lived for a short time in LaCrosse, Wis. before moving to New York City where she worked with the Cornell Medical Center Hospital.

She later returned to Decorah where she and the love of her life, Chester Goodno married in 1938. They moved to Charles City and farmed for 28 years in partnership with Bart and Fran Bonzer. They retired from the farm in 1974 and moved into Charles City. Kay moved to Iowa Falls six years ago to be near her daughter Karen and family. She enjoyed card club, sewing, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and a great passion and love for cats. Kay was a great and gracious lady, loved by many, she was a truly great person; to know her was to love her.

Those left to celebrate her life include her daughter Karen "Dutch" (Lyle) Nott of Iowa Falls; grandchildren John (Kathy) Nott of Clarence, and Joel (Jasie) Nott of Ames; eight grandchildren, Jenny (Shawn), Kelly, David, Bethany, Lilly, Jack, Ava, and Abigail. Also her extended family, Muriel Short, G. Ann (Terry) Smith, Chuck (Janet) Bonzer, and all of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, husband Chester in 2004, and siblings, Truman, Pierce, Genieve, Mike, Marie, Trudy, and George.
