Charles City, Iowa — Phyllis Gifford, 82, of Charles City, died Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral Services for Phyllis Gifford will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, and an hour prior to the service at the church.

Phyllis Mae Bork Gifford was born June 5, 1930, the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Volbrecht) Bork. She attended school in Charles City. On January 11, 1947 she was united in marriage to William G. Gifford at the Saint John Parsonage. Over the years she worked at Webster's Grocery Store, and Comprehensive systems, while being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother her entire life.
She enjoyed playing euchre, making afghans for family and friends, feeding her birds and squirrels, serving at the V.F.W. fish fry and funeral luncheons, road trips with her family, but most important to her was the time she spent with her grandchildren. Phyllis was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City.
Living family members include a daughter, Linda Reit, and a son Richard Gifford both of Charles City; grandchildren Kim (Randy) Gerber, and William J. "B.J." Gifford; great grandchildren, Austin and Autumn Gerber; two brothers, Keith (Betty) Ferch, and Randy Ferch; sister-in-law Marilyn Bork.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband William G. on June 6, 1980; a grandson Kye Reit; a sister Janice Bork, and a brother Philip Bork.
Memorials can be made to the Floyd County Cancer Friends.
