Robert DeBolt, 87, of 1001A Court St., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. He had been a patient at Cedar Health this last year.

Memorial services are pending.

Robert E. DeBolt, 87, of 1001A Court Street, Charles City, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. He had been a resident at Cedar Health Care Center for the past year.

Memorial services for Robert will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the First Congregational Church, with the Dr. Forrest Cornelius officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 8,2013.

Robert Elsworth DeBolt was born January 11, 1925, in Macedonia, the son of Lester and Matilda (Kruse) DeBolt. He attended school in Henderson. On September 10, 1945, he married Marjorie DeVore at Corning. In 1943 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Sargent Bay during all the major battles in the Pacific. Robert returned to Corning and began farming, moving to Floyd County where he farmed for 50 years.

He was a good father and grandfather, he loved being with his family. His hobby was fishing, he was at his best on Trout streams in Eastern Iowa. Bob was a member of the First Congregational Church, Elks, VFW, and Floyd County Historical Society and past member of Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie; three daughters, Karen (Andre) Moutenot of Cranbury, N.J., Patricia (Richard) O'Banion of Nora Springs and Marilyn (Gary) Wilcke of Ames; five grandchildren, Nicole (Ben) Girardet, Amy Moutenot, Beth (Christopher) Neipert, Nathan (Meredith) Wilcke and Ben O'Banion; and six great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert G. DeBolt; parents; three sisters, Vera Viner, Viola McVay and Vivian Hicks; and seven brothers, Roy, Marion, Lester, Earl, Merle, Dale and Herb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church, 502 North Jackson Street, Charles City, IA 50616.
