Evelyn Murray, 78, of Charles City, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Evelyn Marie Zobeck Murray was born May 29, 1934 in Elma the daughter of Wesley and Margaret (Polansky) Zobeck. She received her education at Elma. On January 15, 1953 she was united in marriage to Thomas Murray at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes. For over thirty years Evelyn worked as a waitress at the Comet Bowl in Charles City, as well as being a homemaker. Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed baking, sewing bowling, playing cards, puzzles, dancing the polka and waltz, but most important to her was the time she spent with her grandchildren. Evelyn was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City.

Living family members include five children, Eugene (Barb) Murray of Webster City, Marlene (Jerry) Ennen of Homestead, Geraldine Droste of Gladstone, Ill. Dean Murray of Charles City, and Jennifer (Kelvin) Marvin of Charles City; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Zobeck; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas on January 22, 2011, and a sister Gladys Novak.
