CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Paul G. High, 76, of Charles City, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient United in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Matt Versemann of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waverly will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, and an hour prior to the service Wednesday.

The Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.

Paul G. High, 76, of Charles City, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient United in Mason City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday an hour prior to the service.

Paul Gene High was born January 2, 1936, at Austinville, the son of Eldon and Hattie (Bartlett) High. He received his education from Ackley High School. Paul proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On June 29, 1957, he was united in marriage to Betty Oliver at Island Lake, Illinois.

Paul worked at Trowbridges, Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company and delivered for Winnebago. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waverly. His interests included watching Cubs games, hunting, fishing, going to the casino and telling stories. Paul enjoyed sharing his life with his family and took every opportunity to do so.

Living family members include his wife, Betty High of Charles City; five children: Paul A. (Peggy) High of North Washington, Gary (Dawn) High of Iowa Falls, Greg (Katie) Schafer of Marshalltown, Douglas (Loretta Bowen) High of Charles City and Kimberly (George) Usher of Charles City; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Audrey) High of Williams and John (Betty) High of Waterloo; two sisters, Ruth Viers of Waterloo and Esther of Iowa; and a special friend, Al Jenssen of Waverly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Robert, Ralph, Everett, Jim and Harold High; and three sisters, Dorothy Carleton, Doris Anderson and Helen Fistler.
