OBITUARY.

Nickolas Ewen passed away at his home near Marble Rock, Monday afternoon, June 24, 1918, his death being caused by cancer of the face.

He was born in Germany in 1874 where he lived on the farm, and came to the United States with his parents when a small boy, living in Ulster township, Floyd County, with his parents -- until his marriage to Miss Anna Musil in 1900, when they established their home on a farm west of Marble Rock.

Mr. Ewen was a kind friend and neighbor, a devoted son, husband and father, and will be sadly missed by friends and family. Through a period of many weeks of intense suffering and pain, loving hands ministered to him and all that medical skill could do was used until death came to release the body from pain.

The deceased leaves to mourn his loss, his wife; three daughters: Anna, Gladys and Dorthy; and his aged mother and four brothers: John, Peter, Jake and Andrew, who were all at the funeral except John who lives in New York.

Funeral services were held at Roseville Wednesday forenoon, conducted by Father Mauer and burial was at Roseville Cemetery beside his father and his sister, Kate.
