OBITUARY.

Carl Woelfer was born in Germany in October 1841. In 1870 he came to Aurora, Illinois, where he lived for three years, then went to Nora Springs, where he lived for two years, then came to Ulster township. He was married in 1875 to Mrs. William Theil, a widow with four small children.

Mr. Woelfer was always a very energetic and industrious farmer, a good citizen and a loyal supporter of his church, the M.E., which he served in many ways.

Nine children were born to this union, all of whom survive him except one son who passed away in childhood.

Four years ago Mr. Woelfer retired from the farm and moved to Rockford, where he passed away on June 8th, at the age of 77 years.

He is survived by his wife, two step sons, Wm. Theil of Edwald, Wash., and Rev. F. Theil of Charles City, Albert of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Rev. Witter of Pearl City, Illinois, and Oscar, Emil and Ervin, Mrs. Jay Hillman and Miss Lillian Woelfer of this locality and Rudolf in service "somewhere in France," all of whom were present at the funeral except Albert and Rudolf. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the local church and were largely attended. Rev. Kaste, of Charles City, a former pastor, gave a brief address, in German, then Rev. Klaus, of C.C., followed with an address in English, and close with prayer and benediction. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
