CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Marion Garber, 88, of Charles City died Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at First Baptist Church. Pastor Ruth Yeaton will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Visitation will be Monday at the church an hour prior to the service.

The Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hauserfh.com .

Marion Garber, 88, of Charles City, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Iowa.

Marion Elizabeth Schmidt Garber was born October 25, 1924, at Rockford, the daughter of Edward and Leona (Pfundheller) Schmidt. She graduated from Rockford High School. On February 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Floyd Garber at Charles City. They resided in Charles City from 1951. She was a member of First Baptist Church, American Baptist Women, TLC Sewing Club and served as co-leader with the Girl Scouts. Marion volunteered at Salsbury Baptist Home where she helped with the activities and did mending for the residence. Her interests included sewing, quilting, playing games, gardening, reading and doing puzzles of various types.

Living family members include two children, Paul (Tammie) Garber of Nora Springs and Janet Garber of Charles City; a brother, Robert (Gwen) Schmidt of Charles City; and a sister, Helen Romig of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on March 26, 2004; a stillborn son, Wayne Garber; a brother, Herbert Schmidt; and a sister, Alta Rikke.
