CHARLES CITY - Carrol "Andy" Anderson, 84, of Charles City, died Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Carrol Anderson will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday where there will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

Carrol "Andy" Anderson, 84, of Charles City, died Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Carrol Dean Anderson was born October 18, 1928, at Charles City, the son of Delbert and Naomi (Teal) Anderson. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1946 and University of Iowa in 1955. Carrol proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 10, 1957, he was united in marriage to Dolores Dugan at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Carrol worked in the personnel office at Oliver Corporation for several years, managed UBC lumberyards and was a manufacturing sales representative. He was a member of Lumberman's Association, enjoyed attending various book discussion groups and was active in the Democratic Party. His interests included golfing, following Comet wrestling and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Carrol will be remembered for his incredible quest for knowledge as reflected in his large personal library. His passion for learning included a wide range of interests which he researched to the fullest and was eager to share.

Living family members include his wife, Dolores Anderson of Charles City; three children, Beth (Michael) Anderson of Hopkins, Minn., Marsha (Scott) Hovey of Charles City and Marty (Lisa) Anderson of Mountain City, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Taylor (Chris) Rogers, Samantha Hovey, Katie Hovey and Joshua (Kayla) Anderson; and four great grandchildren, Andrew, Evan and Logan Rogers and Jaden Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great granddaughter, Amelia Rogers; and two sisters, Marita Hollarud and Kay Bremer.
