Lovena M Beers

October 17, 1866 -- December 1, 1885

DIED. Owen Township, Cerro Gordo Co., Iowa, at three o'clock on the morning of December 1st, 1885, Lovena M. Beers, aged 19 years, 1 month and 13 days, of heart disease, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anson Beers.

In the spring of 1881 the deceased was a sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism which settled around the heart. The year following she had a second attack, which left her in a very critical condition. She then commenced doctoring for her heart and steadily improved until the spring of 1885 when she was taken down with heart disease. She lay for five weeks very sick. She then partially recovered and was able to sit up and ride out a little during the summer. In September she was taken down again and lay for ten weeks on her death bed.

She was a very great sufferer but bore her sufferings with unusual patience and fortitude. During the last few weeks of her life she said that she was willing to die and that she was trusting in the Savior.

At about two o'clock on the morning of her death she talked with her mother asking for a drink of water and said that she was not suffering any unusual pain. She then dropped asleep and just a few moments before she breathed her last she drew a long breath. Her mother sprang to her bedside and called to her father. The sufferer's breath grew shorter and at three o'clock she breathed her last. Death came to her as a pleasant dream.

Funeral was held on Thursday, Rev. J.H. Rigby officiating.

The parents of the deceased take this opportunity to thank the many kind friends who so willingly assisted them during the sickness and burial of their beloved daughter.
