Royal Oscar Williamson – December 13, 1913 -- August 8, 2004

Royal Oscar Williamson, 90, of Prairie du Chien, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, at his home following a long illness. Royal was born Dec. 13, 1913, at Rockford, Iowa, to Thomas and TriPhena (Berk) Williamson.

He married Erma Geisler on Feb. 3, 1951, in Prairie du Chien. He farmed his entire life. In 1951, he moved from his Iowa homestead to rural Wauzeka. He was one of the first farmers in the area who used a threshing machine and was also one of the last who used cornshocks. In September of 1987, Royal and Erma retired and moved to Prairie du Chien.

Royal is survived by his wife, Erma; four daughters, Martha (Ronald) Whiteside of Clarksville, Iowa, Marilyn (Ronald) Sutton of Eastman, Janet (Jerry) Ostrander of Prairie du Chien, Betty (Joseph) Valley of Sun Prairie; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank, Edward and Theodore Greenman, Thomas Williamson; and one sister, Jenny (Greenman) Lansing.

Services are Wednesday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Prairie du Chien.

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. - Royal O. Williamson, 90, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., formerly of Rockford, Iowa, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 2004) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien.
