RITES HELD FRIDAY AT MARBLE ROCK FOR ROCKFORD MAN

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in the Bethel Baptist Church in Marble Rock for Ross Ritter of Rockford. Burial was in West Side Cemetery at Marble Rock.

Vocal music was furnished by Lee Adams, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Marsh. Rev. Alfred Trenerry officiated at the service.

Mr. Ritter, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ritter spent his boyhood in Marble Rock. He is survived by his wife, the former Veneta Wagner of Marble Rock and two children, JoAnn and Rodney.

Among those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Mooberry and Mr. George Ritter of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. Verle Sallee and son Donald of Kensett; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Sallee and sister, Norma of Mason City; and Mrs. William DeBuhr of Minneapolis.

Ross Alton Ritter was born September 10, 1898 in Floyd County, Iowa, the son of William Henry Ritter and Desdemona (Ackley) Ritter.

Ross married Veneta Wagner.

After his death Veneta married (unknown Ackley). She was born August 13, 1910 in Iowa and died in Los Angeles, California on August 20, 1972

They had two children:

JoAnn Faye (Ritter) Paulus born October 26, 1932; died October 24, 1994 in California

Rodney Lee Ritter born May 2, 1939; died June 7, 2011 in California
