Wayne Orville Baker – January 18, 1912 – January 1, 1944

HOLD FUNERAL SERVICE FOR PHEUMONIA VICTIM

Nora Springs – Funeral services were held at the Sheckler Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon for Wayne Baker, 31, who died at 1:30 Saturday morning, at the mercy Hospital in Mason City. He was taken to the hospital December 29th, suffering with pneumonia and death followed within less than 3 days.

The Rev. Robert Davies, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated, and burial was in Rock Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Baker was born January 18, 1912, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baker of this community. He lived in and around Nora Springs all his life, with the exception of a few years spent in Mason City.

He was married to Clara Symes January 12, 1934, and 4 children were born to the couple, all of whom survive their father. They are; Marjorie Ann, 8; Carolyne Ruth 6; Jean Marie 3; and Nancy Ellen, 18 Months.

For the first 3 years after his marriage, Mr. Baker farmed near Nora Springs, and since then he had been doing tiling on the farms in this vicinity.

In addition to his widow and children, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Kenneth Allen, New Hampton; Clair Baker and Mrs. Art Straube of Nora Springs; Mrs. Blanche Combs of Los Angeles; Mrs. Gerald Trimble of Austin, Minnesota; Mrs. Erich Renner of Mason City; Mrs. Gerald Bloomingdale of Mason City; and Walter Baker of Waterloo.
