RESPECTED CITIZEN DIED SUDDENLY
A.D. STINGLEY STRICKEN WITH HEART ATTACK
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON – BURIAL AT ROCKFORD

The community was shocked and saddened when it heard of the sudden death of A. D. Stingley, a resident here for many years. Mr. Stingley passed away of a heart attack between three and four o’clock Thursday afternoon. His body was found by a neighbor.

Mr. Stingley, son of Charles and Emily Wannamaker-Stingley, was born at Wyoming, Iowa, on December 8, 1872 and died at his home in Scott Township, Floyd County, Iowa on Thursday, May 11, 1936, at the age of 63 years, five months and six days.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at his home with burial in Rockford. The Lutheran minister was in charge of the service. Mayne Spaulding sang.

Those attending the services from away were: Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Clymer, Nebraska City, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stingley and Mrs. Mary Stingley, Highmore, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. J. Nirk, Lamoni, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Gus Havner, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Boelker, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Havne, Charles City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stabenow, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Smith, Greene, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kaikbrenner, Fredericksburg, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Riggins and children, Dougherty; Mrs. George Uker, Mrs. Ida Darby, Mrs. J. Jones, Herman Bruns and son, Mrs. Starkweather, all of Greene, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Boone and children, Nora Springs, and many from Marble Rock and Rockford.

Mrs. Stingley and children have the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement.

Arthur Stingley married Amelia Bertha Brandenburg (aka Millie), the daughter of Karl Brandenburg and Ernestina (Schwandt) Brandenburg. Arthur was sometimes known as “Pete”.

They had at least two children; a daughter Neva, born February 1, 1904 and died January 3, 1995 (Mrs.Clell Crosby); and a son Glenn A. who was born May 25, 1911 and died August 1980 in Rockford. Glen married Helene Holtkamp.
