Mildred L. Schuster, 96, of Nora Springs and formerly of Rudd died Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A funeral service for Mildred will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Avenue, Nora Springs. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rudd. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mildred Schuster memorial Fund in care of her family.

Mildred L. Schuster, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth LaCoste Schuster was born February 5, 1916 in Rudd, Iowa. She attended school in Rudd and worked for a café there before working in a sewing factory in Mason City. She moved to California and continued her seamstress work in Glendale before moving back to Iowa in 1953. Mildred and her companion, Richard “Dick” Bohlen moved to Northern Minnesota where they would spend their summers at their cabin at Lake Vermilion and returning home to Rudd in the winter, where she made that her home after Dick passed away.

Being a seamstress for many years, Mildred’s passion was to sew, making many of her own clothes. She also enjoyed bowling and fishing along with making time for herself to bake.

She was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by parents; her companion, Dick; three sisters, Bernice (Ralph) Holtz, Viola Buttcher, and Esther (John) Nelson along with her two brothers, Bernard “Pete” (Beulah) Schuster and Clarence Matte.
