GED BASSETT RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. William Ashley's Funeral to be Monday

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Funeral services were to be held Monday at 2 p.m at the Hauser funeral home for Mrs. William L. Ashley, 75, lifelong resident of the Bassett community, who died early Friday morning after an extended illness. The Rev. J.K. Delahooke, pastor of the First Methodist Church was to officiate and interment was to be made in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Ashley had been in failing health for several years and has been seriously ill for the past five months. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors society.

Alice Louisa Ferguson was born October 25, 1869, to William and Ida Snider Ferguson, in Niles township, Floyd County. She was married to William L. Ashley, March 15, 1895, just 51 years ago Friday, at the time of her death, in Charles City.

To this union was born one son, George E. Ashley, of Bassett who survives with his father. Also surviving are two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Theodore Rowley of Charles City and Mrs. Ida Lequea, of Stillwater, Minnesota; and two brothers, John R. Ferguson of Elma, and Ed W. Ferguson of Charles City.
