Irma (Mrs. Marshall) Christensen, 89, a resident of rural route Charles City, died Friday evening, June 28, 1991, at the 11tg Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. D. Neizwaag officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.

Irma Hazel Shannon Christensen was born on February 17, 1902, in Floyd County, the daughter of John and Cora Hurst Shannon. She received her education in rural schools. On October 3, 1923, she married Marshall Christensen in Charles City. She lived in this area all of her life. She was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Double Dozen Club, and the Colwell Senior Citizens.

Living family members include three daughters: Bernice Tapley of Elma, Thelma Logan of Charles City, and Dora (Mrs. Edwin) Schrage of Marble Rock; two sons, Lyle and James, both of Nashua; a sister, Janette Baldwin of Charles City; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, four brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.
