Ethel Vance, 94, formerly of Floyd, Iowa, died on Saturday, September 12, 1992 at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 15, 1992 at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Rev. D. Grim, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, Floyd, officiated. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd.

Ethel Marie Hennick Vance was born February 28, 1898 at Cambridge, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clifford W. Vance on January 31, 1917 at Charles City. They farmed northwest of Floyd for 32 years. He died in 1982.

Living family members include four sons, Dale of Floyd, Alvin and Clair,both of Charles City, and Earl "Wayne" of Clovis, New Mexico; two daughters, Marjorie, Mrs. Keith "Ole" Stiles, of Nora Springs, and Barbara, Mrs. Jerry Sudol of Nashua; three sisters: Bessie Stewart of Floyd, Leda Weiler and Verda Cowan, both of Charles City; a sister-in-law, Golda Hennick of Floyd; and a dear friend, Verna Hansen of Floyd; 21 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, and by two brothers.
