JOHN VETTER

John Vetter, a prominent resident of Pleasant Valley, died at the hospital in Waverly, Saturday morning, where he had gone for an operation.

Mr. Vetter had been in poor health for some time and this was his third operation and although everything possible was done it was without avail and he passed away Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the age of 54 years, 1 month and 2 days.

Deceased was born February 9, 1860, at Dunderheim, Baden, Germany, and came to Iowa in 1884. He was married in 1886 to Katharina Hauser, and to this union five sons and two daughters were born.. One son and one daughter were taken away in the bloom of youth, and Mrs. Vetter went to her rest last fall after much suffering. Mr. Vetter was sick for nearly four years with gall trouble and underwent three operations, seemingly improving after each one, but the home call came last Saturday.

The remains were brought to Nashua that evening and taken to the home and the funeral and burial was from the German Evangelical Church of Fremont Township, Butler County, on Monday. Rev. P. Allrich, the pastor, officiating. The service was largely attended by sorrowing friends and neighbors.
