MRS. LEVI B. SMITH

Lula Maude Finch, second daughter of Hanna Morris, and Day Finch was born at Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa, August 20, 1879. When still a child she moved with her parents to Fayette County, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood.

On the 16th day of December, 1897 at Hawkeye, Iowa she was united in marriage with Levi B. Smith of Charles City, Iowa and to this union were born four children, Vern, born April 8, 1899, Marvin, born May 12, 1906 and twin daughters, Florence and Frances, born March 24, 1912.

Immediately after their marriage she started housekeeping with her husband at Charles City, Iowa and with the exception of one year spent in Hawkeye, Iowa she resided in Charles City until the date of her death, October 18, 1930. Besides her husband and children, she leaves seven grandchildren and three brothers, Archie of Rudd, Iowa; Ray and Arthur of Charles City, Iowa and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Crosby, of Nora Springs, Iowa and Mrs. Verne Johnson of Waterloo, Iowa.

Her parents, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Charles City having united with the local congregation March 22, 1925 having previously been a member of a church at Hawkeye, Iowa.

She was also a member of the Cedar Valley Rebekah Lodge of Charles City.

Mrs. Smith was a great lover of her home and never was happier than when she could do something for her family or friends. She was a earnest and consecrated christian, a wonderful wife and mother and leaves a host of friend who join with the family in their great sorrow.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church, Charles City, Iowa on Tuesday, October 21 at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the pastor of the church, the Rev. G.A. Hess, with interment in Riverside Cemetery.
