HOPPE, 61, DIES FROM EMBOLISM
FARMER FROM FLOYD VICINITY WAS HURT IN ACCIDENT MONTH AGO

Charles City – Emil Hoppe, 61, farmer three miles northeast of Floyd, died suddenly in Cedar Valley Hospital early Saturday morning when he suffered an embolism. Mr. Hoppe, who suffered fractured vertebrae in a fall from a hay rack a month ago, was to have been dismissed from the hospital Sunday.

He is survived by his widow and four children; Irma, Lloyd and Vera, at home, and Ernest, at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana; three brothers; Eric and Paul, in Colorado; and Max at Rochester, Minnesota.

Tentative rites, pending work from the son at Camp Claiborne, have been set for Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Hauser Funeral Home. The Rev. Walter M. Fritschel will officiate and burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Emil Gustav Hoppe was born December 18, 1879 in Germany, the son of Ludwig Hoppe and Augusta Louisa (Weber) Hoppe.

He married Anna Augusta Hormann, the daughter of William Frederick Horrmann and Wilhelmina (Krause) Horrmann.
