STORES CLOSED FOR FUNERAL OF WALTER FLUENT

Funeral services for the late Walter J. Fluent, who died suddenly Saturday morning, were held this afternoon a 2:30 o'clock from the Grace Episcopal Church, Father W. D. Bimson of Willmar, Minn., and old friend of the family, who was formerly in charge of this parish, officiated and imterment was made in Riverside Cemetery.

During the services Mrs. W. E. Dodge sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Redfield.

The funeral was in charge of Chris Hauser and the business houses of the city closed from 2:30 o'clock to 3:30 o'clock out of respect to the deceased, who was active in the association.

Out of town relatives present at the funeral were: his brother, L.M. Fluent and daughter Betty of Hudson, Wisconsin; his sister, Mrs. H. F. Riordan and son Garland of Kansas City and Mrs. Fluent's brothers and sisters from Madison, Wisconsin, who are as follows: Mrs. S. Ekin, Mrs. Arthur Towell, Mr and Mrs. Fred Bearbower, John and Lynn Togstad and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Togstad.

J.H. Belden of St. Louis, Mo., resident manager of the Fidelity and Casualty Company by which company Wayne and Carlyle Fluent are employed, was also here to attend the funeral.

MANY PAY THEIR LAST RESPECTS TO MR. FLUENT

Funeral services for the late Walter J. Fluent, were held yesterday a 2:30 o'clock from the Grace Episcopal Church, Father W. D. Bimson of Willmar, Minn., an old friend of the family and a former priest of the local parish, officiating assisted by the Reverend Hector Thompson, who is now in charge of the local parish. Mrs. W. E. Dodge sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Redfield. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery.

The church was literally filled with beautiful flowers, fitting testimonials to the esteem in which the deceased was held by his fellow townsmen, who closed their places of business from 2:30 o'clock to 3:30 o'clock out of respect to his memory.

The funeral was a very large one, the church being crowded while many remained standing outside during the services.

The prominence of the deceased in business in Charles City, where he was in the insurance business for twenty-six years and his active affiliation with the Charles City Business Men's Association, with the Charles City Building and Loan Association of which he was a director; with the Rotarians; and with Excalibar Lodge No. 109, Knights of Pythias and Charles City Lodge No. 418, B.P.O.E. brought forth the many floral tributes and the large number to attend the funeral.

Active pall-bearers were Glen Hamilton, Dr. J.B. Miner, Charles Monroe, Art Rabb, R.J. Smith and R.W. Zastrow.

Honorary pall-bearers were J.H. Beldin, St. Louis; J.C. Campbell, Ira Dickerson, A.L. Dodd, William Fairbands, Frank Fisher, Charles City; J.C. Garland, Dubuque and Dr. Steve A. O'Brien, Mason City.
