MRS. LEROY L. LOPER

Mary Laura Pepper, daughter of David and Sarah Pepper, was born at Alpha, Fayette County, Iowa, March 6, 1862 and died after a long and painful illness at her home on Milwaukee Street, Charles City, Iowa, April 25, 1930, at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 20 days.

She came to Pleasant Grove, Floyd County with her parents in 1876, locating on a farm. She was united in marriage with LeRoy L. Loper who also resided there.

To this union six children were born, Jessie, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Herbert, of Charles City; George of Omaha, Nebraska; Roy, who preceded her in death in 1897; Glenn, whereabouts unknown; and Louella, Mrs. Lyle Bushbaum, who has had the continued and untiring care of her mother, through her long period of suffering for more than two years.

Besides these children, there are also survive to mourn her loss her ever appreciated husband; four grandchildren, Mabel Adams, Ernie Lynch and Claremont and Ivan Loper; as sister, Mrs. E.O. Smith of Charles City; many relative, six nephews of whom are acting as pall bearers, and a circle of friends who remember Mrs. Loper for her sweet, contented, sunny, happy, uncomplaining disposition, which always reflected true love and friendship, more enduring than granite. She was a member of Methodist Episcopal Church.

On Sunday afternoon, April 27th, the services sacred to her memory were conducted at the Grossman Funeral Home, the Rev. L.W. Inman, pastor of the First Baptist Church, preaching the sermon. Music was rendered by Marvin Smith, accompanied by his sister, Frances. Interment at Riverside Cemetery.
