JOAN LOIS PATTEN

Charles City – Joan Lois Patten, 30, registered nurse, was found dead in bed Sunday morning at her home here.
Funeral services are pending at the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home, awaiting the outcome of an autopsy being performed at Mason City, to determine the cause of her death.

Charles City – Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home for Miss Joan Lois Patten, 30. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Miss Patten was born in Charles City, July 13, 1932, daughter of Charles and Florence (Ersing) Patten. She was graduated from the Charles City High School in 1950. She took nurses training at the Woodlawns Polk County Hospital in Des Moines, and before being graduated there in 1953 as a registered nurse spent six months at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

She served as a staff nurse at Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago; Jane Lamb Memorial Hospital, Clinton, and at Cedar Valley Hospital here. She had been home manager and supervisor at the Chautauqua Guest Home here since the home was opened January 23, 1961.

She is survived by her mother; seven sisters; Mrs. Carleton Veigel, Boise, Idaho; Miss Betty Patten, Danville, California; Mrs. Ronald Demro, Nashua; Mrs. Patricia Jennings, Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. James Fischer, LeMars; Mrs. Arlan Munson, Charles City; and Mrs. Charles Kraut, Cedar Rapids; and three brothers; Kenneth Patten, Charles City; Robert Patten, El Paso, Texas; and Wendell Patten, Charles City.

Her father died in 1957.
