Leonard F. Paine, 89, of Mason City, Iowa, died on Friday, April 24, 1992, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mason City, with Harry Abele, First Counselor, officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Leonard F. Paine was born on January 15, 1903, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of John and Leonora Camren Paine, and moved to Mason City as a young adult. On April 22, 1937, he married Leora M. Hansen in Glenville, Minnesota. In the 1940's he started the Leonard Paine Truck Line, which he owned and operated until 1953. He then went to work as a burner operator for the LeHigh Portland Cement Company. He retired in 1958. After retirement, he became a salesman for Paul's Mobile Home Sales. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Benevolent Masonic Lodge, and was a retired member of the Teamster Union.

Living family members include his wife, Leora of Mason City; three sons, Leo of Cedar Rapids, and Leland and Lyle, both of Mason City; five daughters, Frances Hostetler and Lila McCollum, both of Mason City, Leona Livingston of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, Juanita Smith of Walla Walla, Washington, and Barbara Jean Eldridge of California; one sister, Gladys Paine of Nora Springs; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Ralph Paine; and one sister, Lila Paine.
