FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JOHN ERNST ARE HELD IN CHURCH AT ROCKFORD

Rockford, Aug. 8 – Funeral services for John Ernst, who died at his home here Friday forenoon following an illness of long duration, were held at the Methodist Church yesterday afternoon and burial was in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. H. E. Hillmer, pastor of the Flood Creek Methodist Church, was in charge.

John William Ernst was born in La Crosse, La Crosse County, Wisconsin,on March 27, 1868. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith, in infancy. At the age of 7 he came with his parents to Floyd County and settled on a farm in Ulster Township, where they engaged in farming and where he grew to manhood. He received his education in the public schools in Ulster and in a parochial school in Charles City.

On February 23, 1910 he was married to Anna B. Vietmeier, who preceded him in death May 10, 1930. After their marriage they lived on the farm for a number of years and later moved to Rockford to retire.

He is survived by one son, Louis, and one daughter, Elma, both of Rockford; also one brother; Charles; and sister; Mrs. Charles Martens, both of Charles City. His daughter Elma, cared for him during his illness.

John William Ernst was the son of Theodore Ernst and Augusta (Wolf) Ernst. He married Anna Bertha Vietmeier, the daughter of Carl and Wilhemina Vietmeier.
